Also known as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, the 1939 classic and Academy Award winning song from “Wizard of Oz”. In 2001, the National Endowment of the Arts and the Recording Industry Association of America named the song the 20th century top song (Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” came second). Written by a pair of NYC based writers (who also wrote the rest of the film’s songs), the song became a classic and an all time favorites. Lyricist Yip Harburg, though he was never credited for that. While expressing a general hope for a better future, fitting well the story’s motif, the song draws on the lyricist’s personal Jewish experience, tradition and the ominous pre WWII and holocaust era. Nic więc dziwnego, że producenci powracają do niej co jakiś czas. Tym razem mamy wersję z pompką, której autorem jest KYANU. Przypomnijmy historię tego bardzo starego utworu. To z pewnością bardzo stary utwór, kiedy porównamy go do wielu innych odświeżanych obecnie na współczesną nutę. „Over the Rainbow” liczy sobie dziś 81 lat! Niżej przedstawiamy jego genezę, jak zwykle, najpierw – nowa wersja. A tej podjął się KYANU. KYANU ma zaledwie 18 lat , ale wyrobił sobie renomę na elektronicznej scenie muzycznej. Wydaje głównie w niemieckim labelu Playbox. Współpracował już z takimi artystami jak twoloud czy Sidney Samson, a jego utwory wspierali najwięksi – David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Hardwell czy Don Diablo. Trzeba przyznać,że ta nowa adaptacja słynnej piosenki została zrobiona chwytliwie. Lekka pompka, ciekawy (i znany) lajt motyw powodują, że chce się tego słychać i tańczyć. A jak to się ma do oryginału? Nie sposób to nawet porównać, bo musimy się cofnąć ponad 80 lat! „Over the Rainbow” to ballada skomponowana przez Harolda Arlena do tekstu Yip Harburga. Została napisana na potrzeby filmu „Czarnoksiężnik z krainy Oz” z 1939 roku i został zaśpiewany przez aktorkę Judy Garland, która wystąpiła w roli Dorothy Gale. Zdobył Oscara za najlepszą oryginalną piosenkę i stał się piosenką rozpoznawczą Garland. Ciekawostka, bo ta filmowa wersja „Over the Rainbow” była niedostępna dla publiczności do posłuchania gdzie indziej niż oglądając film. Ścieżka dźwiękowa została wydana przez MGM w 1956 roku, co zbiegło się z telewizyjną premierą „Czarnoksiężnika z krainy Oz”. Utwór doczekał się bardzo wielu późniejszych interpretacji i coverów. Bardzo dobrze była przyjęta wersja hawajskiego wokalisty (już nie żyje) Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, w ocenie wielu to najlepsza interpretacja tej piosenki. Zobacz inna przeróbkę „} xgIMs.
